My Whirpool dryer (model # WED4800BQ1) stopped tumbling. The heating element would stay on even with the door open as long as the timer was "on." Per some instructional videos, I replaced the thermal fuse and heating element. When I put it back together and re-started it, it came on for a split second, sparked (from behind) and cut off. It turns out that I didn't reconnect (seat) one of the terminals (the one without a wire) on the heating element's thermostat. Bone head mistake. I put it back on correctly, but of course, it would not come back on. The coils on the new heating element still look fine, but there is a little black around the heating element plug where it clearly arced. My question is: Did I likely just blow the thermal fuse again, or did it mess something totally different up? Trying to minimize the financial damage as much as possible. My repairman ego is beyond fixing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
