Knocking Refrigerator Compressor

Dear All,

My refrigerator, when turned on runs fine silent for almost half an hour, after that it turns off and then onwards in every 80 seconds, it tries to turn on but compressor stops after a noisy knock and shivering. I could feel the compressor almost hot.

After waiting for some time,I turned off the refrigerator, and when turned on after almost half an hour, it repeated the same as above. Where can be the problem ??

Start-relay and overload is locked into a small box which is re-vetted. So i couldnt break open it.Anybody, request your immediate advise on this regard.

It sounds like you have an internal failure inside the compressor. If this is the case, the compressor will have to be replaced by a trained professional. This type of repair can be quite expensive, so it might be better to replace the refrigerator.

Thanks Ryan, Got the same suggestion from my friends too. Have replaced the refrigerator. Have a new LG: GL254VHG.
Also I could find negative reviews on Samsung's Inverter series refrigerators. Whats your openion.

We prefer non inverter compressors over inverter compressors for simplification and reliability. I have not seen many Samsung inverter models yet, so I can't say much about them.
