There is a very high pitched whining noise coming from behind the ice maker of my GE side by side. The refrigerator came with the house and it has made the noise ever since I turned it on 2 years ago. It is super annoying and super loud. It does not stop when I open the freezer door and there is no frost accumulation in the freezer compartment. I turned off the ice maker to see if the noise would stop and it made no difference. It appears that a lot of these GE refrigerators have problems with the control board but it may also be just the evaporator fan motor (right?). I do not live in an area that has GE appliance repair folks. How can I trouble shoot the problem to determine the cause? Thanks in advance!
