GE Bottom Freezer Profile refrigerator ~ icemaker not working

    Model Number: PFSS6PKXCSS
    Brand: GE
    Age: 1-5 years

Serial number is ZS903936. We have turned it off, turn it back on, reset it, and nothing. The temperature is set at -2 which is the recommended one. It was making too much ice right before it stopped. Please help, as we don't want to call a technician as it is out of warranty (just a little bit older than 1 year old). We get water, but no ice, so it is not the filter as the manual suggested.

Thank you very much for any suggestions you can provide!

There are multiple things that can cause these refrigerators not to make ice. Does the ice maker make any noises at all? Do you have a thermometer you can use to measure the temperature in the ice maker compartment?

Okay, let me know what you find. Also, if you can check to see if the ice maker has ice in it, water in it, or nothing in it currently.

    Hi Ryan:

There is no ice or water in the icemaker right now. The temperature shows at -4C.
Thank you so much for taking the time to try to figure out this mistery for me.

The ice maker compartment has to be 10°F or cooler for it to work correctly. To measure the temperature properly you may need to leave a thermometer in the ice bin for about 6 hours to make sure it has a chance to completely cool down.

Still no ice after leaving it all night at 8F as you suggested, even though the manual says the recommended temperature is to be -2F (as we had it before).

Please leave the refrigerator and freezer set at the default temperatures. When these are set at the default settings, the ice maker compartment should be below 10F.
