Whirlpool Duet fh Error - Replaced Flowmeter, Pressure Switch...

    Model Number: GHW9100LW
    Brand: Whirlpool
    Age: 6-10 years

    Hello,

I have Whirlpool Duet Washer that gives me an HF Error Code 2.5 minutes into a 40 minute Normal/Casual cycle. Water starts to fill the tub normally, tub starts to tumble, FH error code shows up…everytime about 2.5 minutes into the cycle.

I can get it to drain completely, spin normally, and finish cycle manually.

Technician that was out onsite told me that it was the flowmeter or pressure switch. He didn’t have either part so I ordered them on my own and they didn’t fix the issue. He also tested the CCU and he said it was fine.

    So far I have

    Cleaned out:
    Pump Filter
    Hot/cold water screens

    Replaced:
Internal Drain Hose (had hole in it so it leaked) (new)
Pressure Switch Hose (black, had small leak)
Pressure Switch (used but working in machine it came out of)
Flowmeter (used but working in machine it came out of)

    I have also checked:
that both valves at the water source(s) are turned on all the way.
for plugged or kinked inlet hoses or plugged screens in the inlet valves
    Drain pump works fine
    Wire harness connections are tight
    There are no leaks
Diagostic Test gives me the HF Error at C0:1

The tech mentioned that I should tilt the washer forward when putting on the hose from the pressure switch to the tub to eliminate a siphon issue. Did that.

I’m still getting the HF error.

    Any help would be appreciated.

The most common thing that will cause this type of problem is a failure of the water inlet valve. There are two solenoids on the valve, one for the hot water and one for the cold water. If one of the two stops working, it will appear to fill with water because it will fill with one water temperature but not the other. Try setting the washer to fill with only hot water or cold water (if possible), and see if it fills at all. When testing the cold water, you may have to turn off the hot water to the washer because sometimes it will mix hot water with the cold. Let me know what you find.

Here is what the manufacture says about the F/H error code:
No water detected entering machine or Pressure switch trip not detected.

If after 30 seconds the control does not detect water entering machine and then valves will be turned off and the error code will be displayed. Or If the control has turned the water valves on and after 8 minutes the flow meter has detected 10.5 gallons of water passing through it, but has not detected the pressure switch trip, the valves will be turned off and the error code will flash.

Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display.

    Potential Causes

    • If there is no water in the unit:

    • Make sure that both valves at the water source(s) are turned on all the way.
    • Check for plugged or kinked inlet hoses or plugged screens in the inlet valves
    • Verify inlet valve operation

    • If there is water in the unit:

    • Verify Drain pump operation
    • Pressure Switch Hose is in good condition and properly connected to Tub and Pressure switch

    • Verify there is not a siphon problem
    • Verify wire harness connections to; Inlet Valves, Pressure Switch, Drain Pump, Flow Meter, and Central Control Unit (CCU)
    • Check all hoses for possible leaks
    • Verify pressure switch operation
    • Verify flow meter operation
    • Verify CCU operation

I too am having a problem with the washer on filling up. After 1 minute it stops filling. I have replaced the hoses and cleaned the screens. All other functions are working. I performed the diagnostic test and got a C:01. Not sure if I need to replace the water intake valve or the flow meter? Please help!

The diagnostic test starts at C01 continues to advance as it goes through the tests. C01 is the first, C02 is the second, ect. What kind of problem are you having with the washer?

I ended up taking the lid off and rechecking all the connectors. Everything seemed fine to me. Tried running it again and all was well. Then an F11 showed up. I drained the water out and unplugged the washer. Figured I'm doomed to pay a repair man. Two days later, I went back plugged it in and it's working just fine. (keeping fingers crossed)

I'm sure it's temporary and will be back here I'm sure! Thank you for your help Ryan.
