Water in fabric softner and bleach tray after cycle

    Model Number: GLTF167OSAO
    Brand: GE
    Age: 6-10 years

    Hi
GE front loader. After every wash cycle the bleach and softener dispenser is full of water. So much so that it needs to be emptied out before the next wash is started. It used to be empty after the end of the wash cycle. I removed and washed out the tray and the two removable compartments for bleach and softener. Did make any difference. Do you know what the problem is?
    Thanks
    Rich

Should say cleaning the tray did not make any difference.

Your model number GLTF1670SA0 is not a valid model number. Can you double check it please?

I downloaded the owners manual for this washing machine. In the manual it says "Note: From time to time you may see water in the bleach and fabric softener compartments. This is a result of the siphoning action and is part of the normal operation of the washer." It sounds like this is normal operation for this washer.

    Hi
Wife used to see a little water but now when the dispenser drawer is opened the bleach and fabric softener compartments are full of water. Full to the top. They must be emptied out before the next load is started.
    Thanks

Do you use the bleach or fabric softener dispensers on a regular basis? Is there a selector knob on the front of the washer that you use to select when you to use the fabric softener/bleach dispenser?

    HI
When we wash we always use a liquid fabric softener. Bleach with whites only. There is no selector knob to use on this model. Even if we don't put anything in the dispenser, after the cycle is done the fabric compartment is full of water and there is some water in the bleach compartment also.

There is a valve on the dispenser (#36 in the attached diagram), this looks to be what is used to send water to the bleach and fabric softener dispensers. If this valve were to leak it could be filling up the bleach and/or fabric softener compartments with water when it is not supposed to. There could also be a problem with the dispenser assembly or the timer that sends power to dispenser valve.
