Amana dryer will not heat up. Dryer circuit breaker tripped and I reset. When the wife went to start the dryer there was a buzzing through the timer and it tripped the breaker again. I reset the circuit breaker and I started the dryer again. This time there was a buzzing through the timer and a big arc flash from the back of the control panel. Dryer started but will not heat. Further investigation revealed that a hole had been blown in the control board where the relay for the heater is located.
I have ordered a control board (because the board can not be repaired) and a timer. I ordered the timer because I am concerned about what else could have caused the relay to short out and blow a hole in the control board.
Question is what else could have caused this? I have checked the heater element and read 10 ohms across the coils. It was hard enough to find the control board and I don't want to blow a new one.
Any ideas on what else to check would be appreciated.
