    agitation and spin malfunction

    Model Number: WJSE3110A0WW
    Brand: GE
    Age: 6-10 years

My washer starts out fine, agitation works about 5 min then before draining it starts making a loud clicking noise for about 2 min at end of cycle and agitator not moving.. Then as then spin cycle starts it makes the same clicking noise for a couple minutes then it spins just fine. What part is going bad?

Can you tell where the clicking noise is coming from? Does the motor still sound like it is running when it is doing this?

The sound is definitely below the drum. I took the front panel off and it sounds like it is coming from motor but not sure. Just seems odd that the odd noise and slow agitation would be at the end of agitation cycle and beginning of spin/rinse cycle. I made vid of noises but cant upload due to incorrect format

The first thing I would check is the agitator coupling. To access this part you need to remove the agitator, to do this you need to grab the base of the agitator and firmly pull up on it. There are no bolts/nuts holding it down. Once the agitator has been removed you will see the agitator coupler, there is a single bolt on the top of it to remove it. With the agitator coupling removed take a close look at the splines on the inside of it, the splines should go ALL the way through. If any of it is stripped out, then it needs to be replaced. Let me know what you find.

This is the agitator coupling for your model washer:
