    GE Profile keeps Freezing

    Model Number: PFSS6PKXASS
    Brand: Brand
    Age: 6-10 years

My GE Profile PFSS6PKXASS back keeps freezing. Over the years I have defrosted the entire frig a few times. I've attached the extended copper coat hanger into the drain hole, etc. I think maybe it's just not heating up to defrost it. I would say I have to defrost it every 6-9 months.

Is there a part I should try to replace to get this fixed? Any other suggestions? The fan is getting loud from the ice, so I need to get on this quickly.

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

The automatic defrost cycle normally occurs about every 6-12 hours. If the refrigerator isn't going through the automatic defrost cycle, then the evaporator coil will build up with frost and stop working correctly in 1-2 weeks. With your refrigerator working for 6-9 months, you could be experiencing an intermittent problem which can be much harder to diagnose unless it starts to act up on a more regular basis.

    Thank you for replying

Thank you for the reply. I have order an entire replacement of the entire back (coil, themostat, etc). Hopefully that will take care of the issue.
