Hi Doc, I have read a few post on this site and learned alot, but I feel my situation is slightly different. To start off, my dryer powers up, but pushing the start button makes a click, but doesn't start. Assuming it was a blown thermal fuse (3392519) i replaced it. I read elsewhere that usually the fuse blowing is from a clogged vent or a bad thermistor. Cleaned the vents, but they looked good anyway. So i replaced the thermistor (8577274) as well. Dryer fired up, but after the second load it blew the thermal fuse again. Now here is my main question. Could I have bought a bad (out of the box) thermistor? The reason i ask is because now, after the fact, i am using the multi-meter on the original thermistor and the newly purchased one and both are reading no connectivity (infinite I believe is how you say it). I believe I saw on this site that a good thermistor is supposed to read ~10 ohms. So did I buy a bad thermistor or can something fry it too?
I decided to check a few more things so here are my readings from my currently dead dryer:
Thermal Fuse: infinite ohms
Thermistor: infinite ohms
Thermastat: +/- 2ohms
Thermal Fuse (on element box): +/- 2ohms
Element: +/- 11ohms
Element vs surrounding box: infinite ohms (no short)
Granted my multi-meter is a cheapo from harbor freight.
