    Frigidaire Ice Maker keeps running

    Model Number: FRS26LF8CS1
    Brand: Frigidaire
    Age: 6-10 years

I replaced the water actuator and I think I broke something. After replacing the actuator I was putting everything back together and the front control panel came unconnected from the ribbon cable. When I tried to reinstall it the ice dispenser won't stop turning. I have replaced the ribbon cable and this didn't fix it. I unplugged the micro-switch for the ice dispenser and this didn't help. Do I need to replace the control panel? Is there anything else I can do to troubleshoot this problem?

Does the motor keep running if you disconnect the ribbon cable?

I think the only parts that tell the dispenser motor to run are the control board and the switch. Other than that, something would either have to be wired up wrong, or there would have to be a short in the wiring somewhere.

Thank you for the reply. No, the motor doesn't continue to run with the ribbon cable disconnected. Could the ribbon cable coming disconnected have caused the wires to short where it connects to the control panel? I am thinking about getting a jewelers screwdriver and making sure all of the contacts are seperated where the cable plugs into the control panel. What have I got to lose?

Yes, I would check that. It sounds to me like you are on the right track. I would make sure the ribbon cable isn't upside down or in backwards too. Those two control boards are pretty expensive... so hopefully you don't have to replace either of them.

These are the control boards for your refrigerator:

    Dispenser Power Board - 241708102

    Dispenser Control Board - 241708307

I'm having this same problem after changing out the water paddle. I also tried a new ribbon cable to no avail. What fixed it?
