[FIXED]Kenmore Elite 106.56689502 Freezer working Fridge getting warmer by the minute

    Model Number: 106.56689502
    Brand: Sears Kenmore
    Age: 6-10 years

Hi, I have a Kenmore Elite fridge model number 10656689502 How do I run a diagnostic test. The fridge is not getting cold but the freezer is working and the fan is running. Thanks for your help. My husband thinks the freezer is not as cold as well but I don't see food defrosting. He says the ice cubes aren't as cold as they used to be. Looking forward to your response. Thank You

Do you see any frost on the lower back panel inside the freezer section?

Thank you for the pictures. Your refrigerator is not going through the automatic defrost cycle. When this happens, the airflow gets blocked by the frost and the refrigerator and freezer will start to warm up. Do you have an ohm meter or multimeter you can use to test some of the parts for continuity?

I don't think so. I have one of those meters with the two prongs. LOL I think I can borrow one from my neighbor though.

So I went out and bought a meter and the heater gave a reading so I tested the thermostat. TO do that I had to cut the thermostat from the wires and tested it, there was no reading on the thermostat. I replaced the thermostat today and after 6 hours its already frosting up again. What should I test now?

Were you testing the thermostat while it was cold? The refrigerator should go through an automatic defrost cycle every 6-12 hours on average, the control board will vary the time depending on different things. If the heater and thermostat are both good, then you might have a bad control board.

Freezer is FIXED !!! Yay I didn't give it enough time to hit the defrost cycle. I just noticed frost building up again and thought it was still broke. Thank you for everything. I'm so happy I saved myself over 200.00 repair bill with a 27.00 part. YAY...
