    Samsung Fridge Running Too Cold

    Model Number: RF266AASH
    Brand: Samsung
    Age: 1-5 years

Hello, over the past month my Samsung fridge has begun running too cold and lightly freezing liquids and vegetables. It ignores my attempts to lower the temperature. There are no obvious ice buildups inside that I can see. I imagine this is probably a fairly complex fridge to work on, but was wondering if there were some things I could look at or try without tearing it apart?

Using a thermometer can you measure the refrigerator and freezer temperatures for me? There are many components on this refrigerator that work together to control the temperature.

Dear Doc Ryan ... since my fridge behaves (more) normally now for no good reason (perhaps it got a fridge virus), I have a different question to ask about this same model. I need to fix the ice maker ... a piece fell off and now the ice is weird. Would love your advice on what parts to replace. I saw before you usually recommend replacing the whole thing -- true here too? And are the parts easily replaceable or is it more of a pro job?

That ice just looks like it is old. Have you tried dumping it out and starting over with the ice? There are two pieces on the bottom of the ice maker, I can quite tell but I think you might need the sensor cover? I included a link to the part below.

Sorry, that ice was (way) too old to take a pic of, you are right. Here is a fresh batch ...

The problem is not huge but the ice comes out unseparated like this now, since that piece fell off. Is this picture better?

Does it still look like I only need a sensor cover? Thank you!

It looks like the ice maker is filling up with too much water. This could happen if there is a leaking water valve, too much water pressure, or a bad ice maker. I am not sure if this problem is relating to the sensor on the bottom of the ice maker or not. The sensor on the bottom of the ice maker is there to tell the refrigerator the temperature of the ice maker so it knows when to dump out the ice and start making a new batch of ice.
