Frigidaire stops cooling every few couple of weeks

    Model Number: FGHN28441
    Brand: Frigidaire
    Age: 1-5 years

Our 1.5 year old Frigidaire Gallery fridge with bottom freezer and no ice maker stops cooling every few weeks. No water line hooked up to fridge. The warm temperature warning beep sounds and no resetting procedure gets it working again. We unplug the fridge overnight and when turned on again the next day it seems to work fine again for a few weeks. I've vacuumed out the compressor area and nothing seems out of place in that small area that can be accessed by removing the lower cardboard access panel. Any advice would be appreciated.

Your model number is not coming up as a valid model number. The closest model number I am finding is FGHN2844L but it is still missing two digits at the end of the model number. I will need to have you get the full model number from the model and serial number tag on the inside of the refrigerator. When the refrigerator stops cooling, does it make any noises?

I took the model # from the bill of sale. The info plate in the fridge gives the model # FGHN2844LP7, serial # 4A21602093. The fridge continues to make normal sounds when it stops cooling. Strangely, the freezer keeps working when this happens. I cannot locate a temperature sensor. The fan sounds like it is working, but that might be compressor noise that I hear. Board failure?

Intermittent problems like this are hard to diagnose. When the problem occurs again, you will have to do some more investigating. You could be having an automatic defrost problem, the evaporator fan motor could be bad, air damper could have a failure, or something else.

Ok thanks. There are no appliance repair services available within 200 miles so next time it stops I'll try to get into it deeper.
