Bake option doesn't heat but convection works like a charm.

    Model Number: PLES389DCE
    Brand: Frigidaire
    Age: 6-10 years

Hi. Hope you can help me. I don't usually use the bake option, I usually use convection. Last nite I set the bake to 350. Waited for the preheat buzzer. Popped in the brownies and baked for the specified 23. minutes. At 23 minutes it wasn't near done. I set it for another 6 minutes. Opened the door after that time to realize that the oven was barely HOT. I could actually touch the element (not for long just a tap). The racks were touchable too. I then turned the oven off. Set the convection to 350 and waited for the oven to heat. The bottom element was then red hot heating to the desired temperature. The bake option was used earlier in the week for a pizza and did fine. Not sure where to start with the troubleshooting.

Also, is there a way to adjust the tension on the oven door hinge? Mine doesn't stay open all the time. It wants to keep closing while i'm reaching inside.

    Thank you in advance!

Have you tried the bake cycle again since then to see if it started working? Both cycles are controlled by the same control board, so it could be an intermittent problem. The door hinges are not adjustable, if they are bad they will need to be replaced.

Hi. Thanks for the replay. I tried the bake last night again. Worked ok. let it run for about 20 minutes and then switched to convection. Was at the correct temp. So you'd say it's just a fluke? Or if it happens again it could be the conrol panel going out?

If it continues to act up, it could be the control board on its way out.
