[FIXED] Frigidaire oven/broiler not heating - range works

    Model Number: FGF303CWA
    Brand: Frigidaire
    Age: 1-5 years

I really need help, in a bind right before Thanksgiving and my Frigidaire stove is not working properly. It started a few days ago when it took forever to just bake bacon. What would have taken 15 minutes at 400 degrees took well over 30 minutes. Then the next day cooking porkchops in the oven, they got warm, but not warm enough in the oven so after an hour of frustration I said screw it and cooked them via stovetop which works great. I have went and meticulously cleaned the inside of the oven, made sure there was no grease or any other buildup on the ignite or on the thermostat, made sure no wires going from the thermostat to the oven was corroded or broken. The I am at my wits' end.

I have over a dozen people showing up for Thanksgiving and unless we wanna recreate the Chinese restaurant scene from A Christmas Story, I need my oven working so I can cook my bird. The oven is gas powered but with an electric ignition if that is any help.

Your problem could be caused by a few different things. If you have an decent oven thermometer, I would use that to check the oven temperature vs what you have the oven set at. Also, do you have a clamp on style amp meter?

Well I was gonna check that but the ignitor is not going now. Is there a way to tell whether its the ignitor with the issues or a fuse or something for that part?

I believe so. Its below the rod where it comes under the oven floor and if that's it, it does glow when it comes on

It sounds like the ignitor is bad and not getting hot enough for the gas valve to open up and ignite the gas. When the ignitor gets old it will start to glow orange instead of white hot. If you have a clamp on style amp meter you can also test the ignitors amp draw to confirm the failure. Let me know what you find.

This is the ignitor for your oven:

It's hard to tell from your picture of its burned out. There should not be any breaks in the grey coil at all though. Also, when the grey coil starts to get that white-ish color on it, that is usually a good indicator that the ignitor is towards the end of its life.

It was the ignitor. I bought one at a small mom and pop appliance repair shop down the street for $50. Connected it and works beautifully. Wanted to say thanks for sorting this out with me and letting me know that it was the issue. Ya saved Thanksgiving.
