LG Washer drum light stays ON

I have a front loading LG washer and the drum light stays ON.
The control panel is off and wont respond to button press.
I have to unplug and replug the power to operate the washer.
It works for one load,then have to do the same thing.
I am under the impression I need to replace the door switch.
There are no error codes on the display.
Is there a way to be certain the door switch is bad?
I dont want to keep throwing a lot money into something thats
already 3 years or so old.
I take it a new part is not returnable if they dont fix the problem.

I looked and I don't see that LG has posted a test procedure to test the door switch. You can look for the schematic on the washer, LG usually puts this on a sticker on the washer somewhere, this might give you enough information to make some checks. From the description of your problem it sounds like you could have a bad door switch, control board, or wiring problem.
