    Samsung Dryer DV431AEP - won't start cycle

    Model Number: DV431AEP
    Brand: Samsung
    Age: 1-5 years

Front panel works fine. Press start, I can hear a click inside, hourglass comes up on display, then I hear another click, then nothing else happens. Display stays on, hourglass stays on, after 20 mins the cycle is over and dryer shuts off like normal. Everything is normal except drum does not spin/heat. No error codes on display.

I checked: circuit breakers, closing the door, turning it off and on (many times), inside belt is ok, vent cleaned, power is on, removed load, not on child mode,... out of options. Called service man but can't make it out until Weds (5 days).

    Thank you for any help
    Tom

Have you checked to see if the belt is broken?

Belt was good. It was one of the thermostats. Had to wait for the repairman who just swapped it out in 15 mins. I wish we had a way to diagnose these problems without spending hundreds on one-time tools.

I have a similar problem but my display has a grid light with a dust pan looking thing flashing. We have cleaned out all the vents and still nothing. Any thoughts? Does it need to be reset?

He just came in, as I read this and said it was off. Not sure if broke or what. Will update. My husband is an electrician 30 + yrs. Usually if it can be fixed he can. But he wanted me to ask for ideas on this one. Thanks.
Ok the belt is intact but the tensioner /white roller is melted off the bracket that holds it. Do you have these parts?

Yes if it is a DV431AEP.
Just go to the store and search for DV431AEP
The idler assembly is on the first page.
