    Controls are locked out

    Model Number: PLEF398DCD
    Brand: Frigidaire
    Age: 6-10 years

Our Frigidaire range has locked out the controls to the stove top. We are still able to open the door and the oven works, all the lights work as well as the clock. It will just not respond to turning on the stove top.

Do the display lights turn on for the burner switches?

    Controls are locked out

Yes the controls light up, but they only have two lines on each display. The lock symbol on the display is also lit up.

Below is the information that manufacture states about this error.

Electronic Surface Element Control (ESEC) displays “ - - “ message - Indicates that the ESEC has a “Lockout” condition. This condition is normal when setting for a Self-Clean mode. Wait for the Self-Clean cycle to completely finish. For complete instructions to unlock the oven door see the Self-Cleaning instructions in this Use & Care Manual.
