    Whirlpool Gold Oven Overheating

    Model Number: MGFE461LVS
    Brand: Whirlpool
    Age: 1-5 years

When we heated up our oven the other night, the top element stayed on and the oven never stopped heating even after it reached the desired temp. I checked the temp probe (the resistance was between 1000 & 1100 ohms.) Is there a way to repair the electronic control board, if that is what the problem is, without purchasing a whole new board ($300...ouch.)

    Thanks for your help.

The manufacture only recommends to replace the whole control board when it fails, they do not recommend to replace individual parts on the control board.

Thank you for your reply. Even though the manufacture doesn't recommend it, is there a way to do it? Thanks!

With the right tools and knowledge, it may be possible to repair it. That is not my area of expertise.

The relay for the broil element can be replaced. The part number of the relay is printed on the relay and it is available from Mouser Electronics.
