    Maytag MAH8700AWW tub banging

    Model Number: MAH8700AWW
    Brand: Other
    Age: 6-10 years

I have a 2005 Maytag 27" front load washer. Two years ago the drum started banging around in the tub. I took it apart and the assay-frame shaft was broken. I replaced it with a new one and everything was fine for a while. But two months ago the machine started banging again. This time it's not the drum banging against the tub, it's the entire tub swinging wildly on the spin cycle. The machine shakes excessively and starts to walk across the room. I took the back panel off while it was spinning and could see the pulley wobbling.

Now I disassembled it again thinking I'd see something obviously broken. But everything looks ok upon inspection. the assay-frame shaft is not broken, nor is the pulley.

Any idea what could be wrong, or how to continue troubleshooting?

    Thanks,
    Joe

Have you checked the bearings in the back of the outer tub?
