Try pressing the top left and top right button on the front display for 5-15 seconds. This should reset it. The number 3 is not a valid error code. Samsung error codes will have a blinking number 8 with a missing segment. See the link below for more information.

The code "3" was actually the lower right vertical segment of the right most 8 on the desplay. When looked up on the Samsung trouble shooting guide it revieled a refridgerator deforst sensor fault. Had a guy come over and he could not figure it out. Said it would cost 400-500 to repair the display panel. Paid him $69 and he left.Tried your top left and top right button on the front display for 5-15 seconds, and the entire display flashed, then beeped. Pushed the two buttons again, and the display came to life, and everything is working properly now. Wife was already pricing new units. Thanks for your help. It was very helpful.
Great to hear that it is working again. If the error code continues to come that, then you will have to determine what has failed and replace the bad part(s).
