GE Profile French door Ice Forming under Deli Drawer

    Model Number:
    Brand: GE
    Age: 6-10 years

I've had a problem with ice forming under the Deli Drawer. Must remove panel inside Fridge and defrost drain leading to tube to bottom. I've done this 3 times already. Has anyone come up with a permanent solution. Appears I must do this every 3 months or so. PS Also had to replace ice maker. Bought at Parts Dr. Works great. Will never buy GE anything again.

Is the tube getting clogged up or is it icing up?

The heat tab that I pictured in my earlier post is supposed to keep the drain free of ice. When the defrost heater turns on during the automatic defrost cycle it is supposed to heat up the heat tab to keep ice from forming. The next time it happens check to see how much frost has accumulated on the evaporator coil above the drain. If the refrigerator isn't going through the automatic defrost cycle properly it could be causing your problem.

The frost on th coils is always excessive. Looks totally frozen. Which part would be need to be replaced?

It could be the defrost heater, defrost sensor, or main control board.

I have the same problem, except my ge profile fridge has the water pouring out of the back of the fridge under the deli tray when I try to get water from my dispenser. Whats weird is that I get ice perfectly fine but not water. Any suggestions?

I’m having a similar issue with a Samsung. I’ve replaced the evaporator clip, the drain lines are clear, I’ve replaced the drain tubes on the back of the fridge. Water is still collecting inside, under the drawers. On the backside of the evaporator cover, there’s a piece of metal that’s designed to direct water into the drain pan. I’m wondering if the foam has shrank slightly over time, causing the cover to no longer fit snugly and resulting in the flashing on the cover to no longer meet the drain pan on the inside. What do you think? Would a replacement cover likely keep the water from escaping?
