Dark stains (grease?), how do you confirm that it is tub assembly shaft and seal

    Model Number: 417.41142000
    Brand: Sears Kenmore
    Age: 6-10 years

White clothes coming out with dark stains resembling grease.
Internet search indicates that possibly due to outer tub assembly bearing and shaft seal.

What's this all about ? I do not see/feel anything.

    How to confirm ?

It is common for clothes to get grease stains when the bearings and seal fail. The first thing you will notice is that the washer will start to get noisy during the spin cycle. You can try unplugging the washer and removing the back panel, sometimes you will be able to see some residue from the bearings failing if they are bad enough.
