water dispenser in Ice/Water in Door unit won't cut off

    Model Number: 26' Side-by-side
    Brand: Sears Kenmore
    Age: More than 10 years

I have a late 80's model Sears Kenmore 26 side-by-side refrigerator/freezer w ice/water in Door. Water dispenser in door won't cut off. It is not a heavy stream, but more than a drip. Doesnt appear to be leak in hose or fitting, and actuator arm seems to be working properly. I have a picture of the Ice/Water in Door unit with the cover removed I could email, if that would help. I think there appears to be a disc-shaped unit above the hose that may be an actuator of some sort. Could that be the problem?

    John,

It sounds like you have a bad water inlet valve from your description of the problem. If there is no power being applied to the valve, and it is allowing water to pass by, then the valve is bad and it will need to be replaced. If you can get the model number from the tag on the refrigerator, I can look up the correct part for your refrigerator.
