GE WR55X10942 Mail Control Board Installation Question

    Model Number: GSL25JFPABS
    Brand: GE
    Age: 6-10 years

I need to order a new control board WR55X10942 for my GSL25JFPABS refrigerator. My serial number is RF216585. Will I need to cut a wire prior to installing the new board? Many thanks in advance...

Yes, your serial number starts with RF2 and that is one of the serial numbers listed that needs the thermistor wire cut.

Ok. Thanks. I will place an order for the board. Out of curiosity...can you tell me why it requires that thermistor wire cut?

The new control boards are wired differently. If you do not cut the wire, the refrigerator section will stay at 60+ degrees and not cool down to the proper temperature.

Understood. Would this cut take one of the 3 thermistors in the unit offline (refrig/damper, freezer/ evaporator or freezer/ bottom)? The reason I ask is that I may have to replace one of these as well (and I wouldn't want to order a replacement if its not going to be in use anymore as a result of the cut in the cut in the harness.)

I do not know for sure. I think the wire you cut just changes the way the control board reads one of the thermistors. The wire you cut is either just a jumper wire going from one pin to the next or a split in the wiring about an inch and a half away from the plug. If it were one of the thermistors, it would have its own separate wire run to it, not just a jumper wire or splice in the wiring.
