Thread: Ice Maker is not functioning

    Ice Maker is not functioning

    Model Number: rsg257aars
    Brand: Samsung
    Age: 1-5 years

I am fairly sure from what I have read that the ice maker is shot. (clicking sound; no ice)

This ice maker is mounted on the door of the freezer in this side by side.
I can loosen the maker mechanism by taking out 3 screws but the wires feed to behind the panel that the maker was attached to.
This next panel is held on by 4 screws. I took them out and the panel moves up and down but will not come out.
I did not want to force it for fear of breaking something.
    Questions:
Am I on the right track to access the connector for these wires?
If so, How do I get this panel off without breaking something?

I do not have the information on how to remove this specific ice maker. It sounds like you are on the right track. You will have to remove a panel to gain access to the plug so you can remove the wire harness and ice maker assembly. I have attached the parts breakdown diagram of the ice maker below, maybe that will help some.

The panel behind the ice maker is held on by 4 screws. I removed these and the panel moved up and down about a half inch but would not come out.
I finally tried pushing it up and sideways toward the hinge side of the door and used a flat blade screw driver to pry on the front opening. This did it and the front edge just popped out.
After that the whole panel was free and I could access the connector at the top of the door. There are 2 connectors and the larger (12point) was for the maker.
The connector also needed a little prying to unplug it.

I ordered the new maker and am waiting for delivery.
