Model Number: 110-87182600
Brand: Sears Kenmore
Age: More than 10 years
My dryer stopped heating a few days ago, and I have been on an adventure ever since. It's an older Kenmore, model 110-87182600. So far, I have performed continuity tests and replaced the following parts:
Thermal fuse (passed cont. test, but replaced anyway)
Flame Sensor (failed test)
Valve solenoids/coils (testing was inconclusive)
Igniter (crumbled when I removed gas valve assembly)
I have also performed continuity tests on both thermostats, and they seem to be fine. However, I could use advice in this area as well.
Sequence of events:
1. Replaced thermal fuse and igniter. No-go
2. Replaced flame sensor. No-go
3. Replaced gas valve solenoids/coils. No-go
The dryer has been thoroughly cleaned. Have pulled the lint duct and cleaned the blower fan, as well as the vent hose and exterior lint door. The interior has been thoroughly vacuumed.
Current dryer status:
The dryer turns on, spins and seems to begin a normal cycle. Approximately 5 seconds after starting the dryer on high heat cycle, the igniter begins to glow. About 2-3 seconds later, you can hear a click coming from one of the gas valve solenoids, and then a faint humming sound. The igniter shuts off within 1-2 seconds after the solenoid clicks, and there is no flame.
Am I looking at a bad gas valve assembly, or could it be something else? I am completely stumped. Please help.
Thank you!
