Hello!
I am trying to fix a problem that I'm having with a Kenmore freezerless refrigerator and I'm wondering if you'd be willing to help?
When the defrost timer clicks into the defrost cycle the GFCI trips. Hitting the reset button on the GFCI doesn't work--it trips again immediately. As soon as I manually cycle past the defrost section of the timer I can turn the fridge back on. It will run through its timer (about 48 hours) and then the GFCI trips again as soon as it cycles into defrost.
I plugged the fridge into another GFCI outlet and the same problem occurred. Additionally, I cannot connect the refrigerator to a non-GFCI outlet because it is a coast guard requirement that all outlets be GFCI controlled (the fridge is on a boat).
The condensor coil temp stays around room temp or just a little warm--it has been cleaned several times.
I replaced the defrost timer but a brand new timer did not solve the problem.
Any ideas? I really appreciate your help!
Thanks,
Emily
