When replacing the heating element(s), you always need to make sure the power is turned off or the range is unplugged. One of the sides of the element is always hot and will short out against the oven frame when you pull the element out if the range has power to it. When the element shorted out, it probably burned out the circuit board that controls board bake & broil elements.

This is the control board for your range. Before ordering the control board, try pealing off the overlay (sticker) from the old control board to see if it will come off in one piece. If it doens't come off in one piece, then you will need to order a new overlay.

After 4 years I'm about to have the control panel repaired for the third time! What is causing these to go out so frequently? Also the last two were under an extended warranty, but that has run out and I was wondering, if I'd be covered under the manufacturer's warranty for the part, because the last time it was done was October 2011?

Control boards can go bad on their own. If you have power surges, brownouts, or blackouts, any of those can damage the circuit board and cause it to fail prematurely. You would need to check with who did the repair last and see if the repair had a warranty. More than likely since it was done under an extended warranty, the warranty on the repair probably ran out when the extended warranty did.
