[FIXED] Thermistor checks good, control panel?

    Model Number: MDE9700AYW
    Brand: Maytag
    Age: 1-5 years

I had a fire in this unit, not mine it belongs to the school. I just started here or the lint packing the fan and filter port would have been cleaned long ago. The Thermistor wires were compromised and melted together in two places shorting them.

I separated them, wrapped them in Elec. tape (separately) and tested the ohm reading of the thermistor which seems to be in spec. I also checked the other end of the wires (with thermistor plugged in) at the control board and also got the correct ohm reading through the wires and thermistor.

I checked the heating element, and thermostat 1,2 and 3. All check good.

Still get code (tS) actually (ES) with the top leg of the E missing, and a no start.

Could this be the board? Am I missing something simple?

On some models you have to clear the error code after fixing the problem. See this post for information on how to do that. If that doesn't take care of the problem, and both the thermistor and wiring is good then the main control board will need to be replaced. Let us know what you find.

This is the main control board for your model dryer:
