wash cycles on 3 sec, off 8 sec, over and over, then shuts down, leaving water in tub

Age: 6-10 years

Dishwasher is 10 yr old.
Already replaced motherboard prior at 5 years old.

If I restart cycle it drains just fine.
Then it refills for wash just fine
it heats up water fine

no matter what cycle I pick - quick, normal, rinse, etc the sprayers cycle on for 3 sec, then off for 8 sec, then on for 3 sec, then off for 8 sec, over and over until it shuts itself down, leaving the water in the tub basin.

Motherboard..?

It sounds to me like the motherboard is most likely causing this problem. To verify this you would need to look at the wiring diagram and then do a voltage test at the wash motor to see if the control board is supplying consistent power to the motor. If the power is varying then the motherboard is bad, if the power supply consistent then the wash motor or motor capacitor could be bad. The motherboard on this dishwasher varies depending the serial number of the dishwasher. If you would like me to look up the part for you I will need to get the serial number from your dishwasher.
