Whirlpool Washer Automatically Restarts at End of Wash Cycle

    Model Number: WTW4900BW0
    Brand: Whirlpool
    Age: 6-10 years

I have a Whirlpool washer model WTW4900BW0 aprox 18 months old. The washer operates fine except at the end of the wash cycle instead of unlocking the lid it automatically begins a new wash cycle beginning with the sensing mode, it washes each load twice. If I catch it at the end of the first load and press the cancel button for three seconds it will end the wash. The next load will usually end the wash cycle after only one wash cycle and it may do several loads without recycling but it will revert back to washing each load twice at some point, This problem occurred after washing a large load of towels, possibly overloaded. Is it possible that the machine needs to be recalibrated. Any suggestions.
    Thx, H Baker

Are you using the same cycle and cycle settings? Does the "Done" light come on before it starts over again?

Whirlpool Washer Automatically Restarts at End of Wash Cycle

Sorry it took me so long to respond, my wife has been using the washer and it still will restart but not every time, I have yet to catch it when it does restart. The washer will restart in normal, delicate and quick wash cycles, she said that the done light will come on before it restarts.

The only thing that I know of that could cause this would be a bad main control board.

This is the main control board for your model washer:
