[FIXED] Whirlpool washer UL code and making awful noise

    Model Number: WTW6200VW0
    Brand: Whirlpool
    Age: 6-10 years

Whirlpool washer giving UL code and making awful noise in spin cycle. I took it apart down to the drive shaft, and some of the seals are disintegrated.

My confusion comes from the fact that some sites say I need the whole outer tub with bearings and seals, and some say I just need the drive shaft and seals.

Help. Which part do I need?

On your model washer the bearings and seal can be replaced separately if the outer tub is in good condition.

This is the bearing kit and tool for your model washer:

    Tub Bearing Shaft & Seal Kit - Part # PD00002260 (mfg # W10435302)

    Tub Press Tool Kit - Part # PD00004958 (mfg # W10447783)

Ok. I bought the part, but the bearings are NOT coming out. The bottom one seems to be part of that metal piece around the tub (see pic). Pics with new bearing, looks like it comes out but it doesn't. Click image for larger version.

I swear the bearing is fused with that plate.

Thank you for the pictures. The bearing goes into a metal sleeve on the tub of the washer. If it seems stuck, then you can try using some penetrating oil like PB blaster or WD-40 on the stuck bearing and let it sit overnight. In some cases this will looses up any rust or corrosion that is holding the bearing in place.

Soaked in WD-40 all night. Did nothing. Worked on it for 4 hours the next day. lots of banging, pushing, cursing.... Finally bought a dremel and got it out. Washer is back together and running well.

Thanks for the update, that bearing was really stuck in there! I updated the status of this thread to FIXED and changed to title of this thread to make it easier for others to find.
