installed new motherboard still not cooling

    Model Number: 596.6997.3011
    Brand: Sears Kenmore
    Age: 1-5 years

My fridge was not cooling but my freezer was cold. I defrosted the fridge and this worked for about a month then did the same thing. I talked to a repair man told him what was happening and he told me it was the motherboard. Told me the part was $190 and install $75. My husband went to the supply store, said he was picking up the part for xxx appliance and paid $70, wow that's markup. Anyways, I got the board installed and coded but it still isn't cooling. Do I have to defrost it again so that it will run right again?

Yes, you have to manually defrost the freezer after installing the new control board for it to cool properly.
