Bottom mount frost kit #12002754 install instructions

    Model Number: 596.65939402
    Brand: Sears Kenmore
    Age: 1-5 years

Could someone direct me on accessing and installing the new control board on this model? I don't want to inadvertently break something

Part number 12002754 should come with an instruction sheet when you order the part. Did yours include the instruction sheet?

Unfortunately they sent the wrong instruction sheet with the "kit". The control board is the correct one for my frig model (you have an excellent tutorial on installing it), but it looks like the thermostat might be the wrong one. They sent a Whirlpool 67004757 L 42-30 thermostat. The "kit" also includes a high pitched fan, 2 foam strip gaskets, a couple wire ties and a male & female 1/4 in insulated terminal

I believe I found the correct instruction sheet for this part. See the attached PDF below. It looks like they have you add a second defrost thermostat to delay the fan from starting until it gets cold enough. When look up your model number, I don't see them listing this frost kit for your model. I am not sure if this kit only works with specific models? Even though they call this a "frost kit", it isn't designed to fixed automatic defrost problems. There are three defrost components on your refrigerator, the control board, defrost thermostat, and defrost heater. You might still need to replace the other defrost thermostat, or possibly the defrost heater if your refrigerator is not going through the automatic defrost cycle properly.

Thanks. I was originally told it was likely the control board. Guess I have some extra parts. The board alone is close to the price I paid for the kit, so I,ll try this first. Thanks again for your help
