    Squeaking Frigidaire Dryer

    Model Number: FGQ332ES0
    Brand: Frigidaire
    Age: 6-10 years

I have a Frigidaire gas dryer, about 8.5 years old that is squeaking & probably needs a new bearing. At this age, is it worth fixing or am I better off getting a new one? How hard / expensive would this be to repair myself? Thanks.

    Zicky,

The squeaking noise is usually caused by a worn out rear bearing. The rear bearing is attached to the rear of the drum on the dryer and it requires disassembling the front of the dryer and removing the drum to access. There is also a maintenance kit that you can order that replaces all of the common items that wear out on this dryer. While you have everything apart I would replace all of the parts from this kit. If the dryer is in good condition, then it is probably worth fixing.

These are the parts for your model dryer. The maintenance kit includes the rear bearing kit, so you won't have to order both:

    Drum Rear Bearing Kit - Part # PD00000097 (mfg # 5303281153)

    Dryer Maintenance Kit - Part # PD00000138 (mfg # 5304457724)
