[FIXED]Maytag dryer runs, heats, turns off, but restarts when button is manually held

    Model Number: med5570tq0
    Brand: Maytag
    Age: 1-5 years

The electric dryer was working perfectly. When I checked the clothes, the dryer had turned off. I turned it back on and it immediately cut off. The drum turns, coils heat, interior light comes on. The lint trap is clean and duct clear to outside wall and has good airflow. The dryer will turn back on immediately if I depress the start button and continue to hold it. Once released the machine cuts off. Additionally, I set the timer and it ticked down normally and stopped. Would you say the start button is bad?

Do you have the wiring diagram?
if not it may be in the control console.

Looks like the unit uses a push to start relay.
Could be that the relay coil is open so it does not hold the contacts closed when you release the button.

It could be a bad start switch, timer, or drive motor. Let us know if the start switch takes care of the problem.

This is the start switch for your model dryer:
