[FIXED] VIDEO - GE front load washer rattling/knocking on spin. Need diagnosis help.

    Model Number: WPDH8900
    Brand: GE
    Age: 6-10 years

Looking for help diagnosing this. You'll hear in the video a rattling or knocking which to my ear sounds like a loose guide wheel or bearing or something. It started about 2 months ago and has gotten progressively worse. What do you think?

It sounds like bad tub bearings. On these washers they are usually sold as part of the rear outer tub assembly. Sometimes you also have to replace the inner tub if the shaft is damaged. It is an expensive repair and it might cost more than the washer is worth.

Thanks for the reply. Turned out being the drive pulley. The center of the hub wore out causing a wobble. It was that wobble that caused the pulley to hit the tub once per revolution. And that was the sound we heard.

Thanks for the update, I am glad it was a cheaper and easier fix than bad tub bearings. I have updated the status of this thread to FIXED.

This is the drive pulley kit in case anyone else needs it:
