Unplug the stove.
This is very important because on most units there is still voltage to one side of the element even when it is turned off.
Undo the screw/s holding the element to the back of the oven.
Carefully pull the element into the oven.
Remove the wires from it and check it with a meter.
Should be around 20 ohms.
It is a good idea to clip something (clothespin etc.) to the wires so they do not disappear into the back of the unit while you are checking the element.
What denman said above is correct. If the bake element is good and then it is usually the main control board that is bad if the top burners are still working.
These are the parts for your model stove:
Bake Element - Part # PD00000308 (mfg # 316225001)
Oven Control Board - Part # PD00000305 (mfg # 316207511)
If your overlay cannot be reused from the original control board you will need to order a new one
Touchpad Overlay (Black) - Part # PD00000530 (mfg # 316220805)
