[FIXED] loud noise on spin cycle

    Model Number: aav7000aww
    Brand: Admiral
    Age: 6-10 years

This washing machine makes a loud noise when in the spin cycle. Second hand got it in a package deal. At first it would not spin, so i placed it on its side, removed belt and rotated the middle pulley. It rotates in both directions causing the appropriate parts to move (agitator and inner tub. Doesn't take an excessive amount of force to move it. Placed it upright and it started to spin, but it makes a terrible noise. I suspect a bearing, but which one is the most likely. Is it worth fixing?

    Model: AAV7000AWW
    Ser: 26200396JC

    Thanks.

    Hi,

In most cases it is a failure of the tub seal and bearing that causes the washer to get noisy during the spin cycle. Depending on your skill level it may be worth doing the repair. It requires disassembling most of the washing machine and sometimes you can run into some corroded fasteners which can make it difficult to take apart.

These are the bearings for your model washer:

    Tub Seal and Bearing Kit - Part # PD00003543 (mfg # W10219156)

    Lower Bearing Kit - Parts # PD00007321 (mfg # 12001562)

Thanks. It was also suggested that I check the water pump. The water pump pulley seems extremely loose and I can see some corrugated metal between the pulley and housing. I'm going to replace it first and see what happens.

Thanks to Parts Dr. I received a pump in one day and it fixed the problem. The pump was my first gut feeling, but I believed the worst.
