Kenmore Elite side by side leaking from bottom freezer drawer.

    Model Number: 795.71079.010
    Brand: Sears Kenmore
    Age: 6-10 years

Having a problem with water leaking from the bottom drawer of the freezer onto the floor. Checked the drain in the back of the fridge to make sure it was cleaned out. When I looked in the bottom of the freezer there was a large clump of ice in the very bottom of the freezer and what appeared to be a trickle of water draining down the back wall into the bottom. I'm not sure if it is something with the evaporator or the ice maker/water dispenser. Both the ice maker and water dispenser function. Can you give me any idea as to where I should start troubleshooting? Hoping you're as successful in explaining this as you were with my dryer problem.

I don't know if this one will be as easy as the dryer problem. The water either has to be coming from the defrost drain water or the ice/water dispenser. If I were you I would start by turning off the water to the refrigerator to help narrow down the problem. With the water turned off to the refrigerator for a while you should be able to determine if the water is coming from the ice/water dispenser water.

Cool. I'll turn the water off and see if the problem stops. Am I correct in my understanding that if I turn the water off and it continues, then the defrost drain is the problem and if the problem stops then it has to do with the ice/water dispenser? Thanks again for your help!

So I shut the water to the ice/water dispenser off on Friday and no leaking since. So now what?

I would turn the water back on temporarily and start at the back of the refrigerator and start tracing the water lines and looking for any leaks. The most common place we see leaks on this refrigerator are at the water filter housing where the water filter attaches to the refrigerator. I would turn the water back off until you find and fix the source of the leak.
