Kitchenaid Dishwasher Electrical Burning Smell - Wiring Harness

    Model Number: KUDW02FRSS1
    Brand: KitchenAid
    Age: 6-10 years

I recently started smelling an electrical burning odor (like melting insulation) on my dishwasher. When I opened up the door to examine the control board and wiring, I found very slight browning to a few wires in the middle of the wiring harness and melt marks in the hard black rubber/plastic insulation. Clearly the wires got hot and melted the black insulation. I don't see any obvious corrosion on the control board at the connectors and can't figure out what is causing these wires to overheat. Obviously, since the dishwasher still operates, the thermal fuse hasn't blown and appears normal.

Any suggestions as to what I might look at for the cause? Thanks in advance for any help.

I would get it fixed under warranty.

Since the wires are getting hot in the middle of the harness it may be a bad wire.
I am assuming that the hot spot is part way down where the harness from the control board goes down and then under the unit.

Also check for any recalls on this unit.
