Touch Pad Switch cracked but working

    Model Number: GE Profile Dryer
    Brand: GE
    Age: 6-10 years

There's a crack on the outer membrane of the Start-Stop switch . However, the switch operates correctly. The whole GE assembly is WE19X10072.

My concern is that water might get in through the crack. Is that a problem if it does? Is there a way to seal the crack or cover it? I don't want to pay for the whole replacement of the assembly which is otherwise working 100%. Thanks.

If water get through the cracks it could short the membrane. There is no good way that I have seen to seal the crack or cover it, it would be a good idea to replace the part.
