Samsung RB2155SH cools to desired temperature but then wont run again.

    Model Number: RB2155SH
    Brand: Samsung
    Age: 6-10 years

Fridge/freezer cools fine, so I doubt its a coolant leak.

However once it cools to a certain temperature (-4F and 30F), the fridge will not turn back "on" (meaning the fridge is still on, but the motors/compressors will not run) until I unplug the fridge and re-plug it back in. I basically have to do this every 6 hours or so.

Tried to just not unplug the fridge on for a day and this happened:

I unplug it and plug it back in and the compressor runs like normal until temp is reached and i need to repeat whole process.

I am guessing its a relay switch that I need to replace? Is it worth it to get it fixed or just drop $1000 on a new one?

I think it may be in demo mode
I think the manual says to hold power freeze and freezer temp for 5 seconds.
Not sure but another site says that being in demo mode will give the symptoms you describe.
    It is worth a try.

I tried this and the display shows "OF". I doubt the fridge is in demo mode.

Some quick search around the internet is that the fridge is in permanent defrost mode, until i unplug it and plug it back in. Then works normally until the target temperature (-4 and 34) and then goes into defrost mode (forever, until replug).

Im assuming its the main controller board. Ordered one from repairclinic for around $90 and see if this fixes the problem. Will update the thread once it arrives and update.

Yes it does not look like a demo mode problem.

I did find on another site that this problem can be caused by bad thermistors.
Unfortunately I cannot find info on why a bad thermistor would cause this.
Perhaps Samsung in their infinite wisdom monitors the defrost temperature and if the unit does not see a temperature rise it hangs the unit in the defrost mode.
Samsung does do some seemingly strange things but I am just guessing at this point.

I will keep my fingers crossed that the new board fixes your problem as it is the most likely cause.

Welp, I installed the new board and the fridge works like it should for a day and now I have the EXACT same problem.
