Whirlpool Refrigerator too cold!

The food compartment in our refrigerator is acting more like a freezer!
The thermometer I put inside says 22 degrees.
I turned the temperature control to the off position, but is continues to run.
Would replacing it solve my problems?

If the refrigerator continues to run even with the temperature control turned to the off position, then the temperature control is bad and needs to be replaced. The contacts in side the temperature control can start to go bad as they get older, and in your case they probably welded together. That's why its not shutting off when you turn it off.
