    New refrigerator not cooling

    Model Number: 795.79043.310
    Brand: Sears Kenmore
    Age: 1-5 years

This refrigerator is brand new . but sat 4 years never plugged in. once it was plugged in it never cooled.. after looking in to it the fan inside the fridge was not working. the fan ohms with continuity. the main board was replaced and the fan does not come. Does the board have a relay or some thing that sends power to the fan after a certain time ? The compressor sound like it is kicking on and the condenser fan is going can you help me could it be the capacitor

Check that the compressor is running.
You can hear it but it should also be vibrating.
If it is running then the capacitor is OK.

If it is running then check in the freezer to see if there is cooling re: frost on the evaporator coils.

If there is not frost then it is a sealed system problem and it may not be worth fixing due to the cost.

Note that fridges do not like sitting unused for a long time.
There are many posts of folks who have let a fridge sit for a year or so and then they do not work when reinstalled.

Prolly the defrost control turn the fridge to colder not freezer the fan should start as the fresh food area is calling for more cold but the freezer control needs put on compressor and condensor fan you mustve comp and cond fan on before Evap fan runs .

wont cost me a thing to put a tap valve on it to read low side and take about ten minutes . and all gas purchased on amazon. compressors do not usually go on home fridges . if comp is on vibrating feel the copper lines for heat open fridge and feel for cold if making cold let run 24 hours the look at evap core in freezer making cold light silver showing thru the frost is normal.

The fans on these are really quiet and they only run when the doors are closed or if you can trick it into thinking the doors are closed by pressing the door switches if they are not the magnetic style switches.

That is what I was afraid of really nice fridge. the compressor is kicking, do you know if the fan kicks on immediately or do the coils have to cool down first ?

I don't know the men more model but if compressors on . You need check in freezer to se frost line on evap core . It should be making cold and the condenser fan should be on under fridge . When ya turn up fridge control the fan on evap should be on if cold is happening. If magnetic switch out fone in freezer with record on . Take out after closing in and listen hear the fan come on?
