    KithenAid Refrigerator Intermittently Tripping GFCI

    Model Number: KSCS25FVM01
    Brand: KitchenAid
    Age: 6-10 years

KitchenAid refrigerator (KKSC25FVM01) has been intermittently tripping GFCI outlet the past few weeks. Replaced GFCI outlet last Wednesday. It has only tripped twice since. Noticed last night when it tripped the refrigerator was going through the defrost cycle. Coils in bottom of freezer compartment where ice free and still dripping wet. Reset the GFCI outlet and defrost cycle completed and refrigerator running fine again.

Any recommendations? Based on my limited knowledge I am suspecting some component related to the defrost process may be at fault for the intermittent tripping of the GFCI.

    Thanks

    Hi Country,

Your model number is missing a digit at the end before the 01. Normally we see the defrost thermostat and/or defrost heater going bad will cause this type of problem. As they get older these parts can get moisture inside of them which can trip the GFCI outlet.
