Thread: [FIXED] GE Microwave; No power

Talking [FIXED] GE Microwave; No power

    Model Number: PVM9195SF3SS
    Brand: GE
    Age: 1-5 years

    Help! no power

Not quite 2-year old microwave. Pushed the 30 sec cook button and just went dark; no power.

Checked all the regular stuff. Power to outlet good and breaker in box not tripped.

Found videos of similar model repair for this problem, but so far nothing has worked. Checked fuses (2) and they appear to be good using continuity test/multimeter.

Checked (3) thermostat switches and I believe them to be good too. Two of them have continuity and the third I think is an open switch, so no continuity there.

Okay, I'm no engineer or electronics expert, so I need some help before I call a repair man.

    Anyone??

    Thanks,

    bzambello

    Hi bzambello,

It sounds like you have checked alot of the common things. I think the next things it could be are the noise filter or the control board. Let us know what you find.

Ended up calling GE repair man, darn! He was very helpful and said this is very common. Apparently it was the Magnetron fuse. He ordered a new motor, magnetron and fuse and will be replacing them. He said for us to complain to GE Customer Service because the microwave is less than 2 years old and they waived the price of the parts, but we are paying the labor. Fine with me, we just need to get it fixed.

    Thanks again everyone.

Thanks for the update, I have updated the status of this thread to FIXED. Do you know which motor he replaced? Was it the ventilation motor? That was nice of GE to cover the price of the parts for you!
