    Water inlet problem Whirlpool

    Model Number:
    Brand: Whirlpool
    Age: 1-5 years

The main water line in our house had to be replaced due to a leak. Afterward, the water pressure in our house was terrible, so I asked the plumber to come back out. He said that dirt had gotten in the line and debris was knocked loose from the new better water pressure. He fixed everything, or so I thought. I had not noticed the cold water for the washing machine was not working.

I took off the hoses, and cleaned the inlet screen out- there was a ton of dirt/mud. I put the hose back on but still only the hot water is letting water through. Do you think replacing the entire inlet part will clear it up? Anything else I can try?

Disconnect the hose at the machine and run water into a pail.
Just to be sure water is getting to the unit (some hoses have a screen built into the sealing washer.

If OK recheck the screen at the water valve.

If OK then I would replace the inlet valve in the machine.
